Digital Asset Management - How to use the Rubber Stamp Tool in Photoshop
Perhaps you have wondered how some photos can look so perfect, like ads in magazines, newspapers, and billboards, etc. In Photoshop there is a handy tool that can fix small imperfections quickly and easily. The Rubber Stamp Tool can be used to retouch blemishes such as on this photo below of a pear with an imperfection. In this article we will show you how to get rid of it.
How to use the Rubber Stamp Tool
Open the digital image in Photoshop. Click on the Rubber Stamp Tool from your tool palate. Hold down the Alt Key on your keyboard and click on an area around the blemish. By doing this you have taken a sample of the surrounding area and can now start clicking on the blemish to cover it up. Make sure to resample from different areas and follow the contours of the shading. The shading of the area needs to match so it will appear believable. It may take a few attempts to get the digital image to a satisfactory result. Using a smaller brush may help so you can carefully cover up the flaw. Often bigger brushes sample too large of an area and that may cause the shading to be different than the area you are trying to cover.

Here is what the finished product looks like.
