Digital Asset Management
Trying to find a digital image can be a difficult and frustrating experience. To make it easier a cataloging system was created called the IPTC (International Press Telecommunications Council). Photographers can add meta data into the file info and it will be saved so that the image can be easily found and organized. Here we will show you how to add the IPTC data into a digital file using Photoshop.
Entering IPTC Data
Open the digital image in Photoshop, then go to the File pull-down menu and click on File Info.

Fill in data in the appropriate fields such as contact info, file content, and information about the photo like date created and copyrights. If you have a group of digital images with the same data, you can click on the arrow in the top right corner of the window and click Save Metadata Template. Type in a name for the template and click Save. When loading a digital image with the same metadata as a previous file, you can go to File Info, then go directly to the arrow in the top right corner of the window and click on the appropriate template.
