Dital Asset Management - How to crop digital images using Fixed Crop Feature in Photoshop

The crop tool in Photoshop is used to trim away portions of a digital image that you may not want in the photo. Sometimes it is necessary to crop a group of digital images to be the same size. In this case, you would use the fixed crop tool. Here we will show you how to crop two digital images to be the same size using the fixed crop tool in Photoshop.

Fixed Crop Tool (Photoshop)
Open the digital image in Photoshop. Click on the Crop Tool in your tool bar, or press C.

At the top of the screen enter the dimensions you want the digital images to be. In this case, we used 6 inches for the width and 4 inches for the length. Now, move the crop tool to the area of the digital image that you want to crop. When you are finished,  click on the inside of the area selected and it will automatically crop the image.

Here is the finished product of the first digital image that we cropped.

You may have noticed a circle in the middle of the area cropped.  You can move that circle around to get a better crop of the area you want. Go to the outside edge of the rectangle until you the double arrows appear.  Then you can move the digital image around from there. When you are finished,  double-click on the inside of the area selected and it will automatically crop the image.

Here is the finished product of that digital image after using the circle.
